PETALING JAYA: It was ace forward Kipre Tchetche (pic) to the rescue.

The Ivory Coast hitman’s hattrick led Terengganu to a 3-2 victory in their Super League clash against Negri Sembilan after falling behind on Wednesday night at the Sultan Ismail Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

The Turtles drew first blood when Tchetche struck in the 31st minute but a poor lapse in concentration saw them concede two goals before the end of the first half.

Argentinian forward Nicolas Velez helped the visitors take over the lead with goals in the 44th minute and three minutes into stoppage time.

But the Ivorian saved the home side the blushes in front of their fans when he scored in the 57th and 67th minutes to take the full three points.

Terengganu head coach Irfan Bakti said he

was happy that his skipper has returned to form after a thigh injury a month ago.

“We were glad that he returned because he is our captain and one of the top scorers in the country. And at the moment his form is good,” said Irfan.

“We hope he can keep up his scoring momentum because we don’t want to lose

anymore points.

“We are trying to fight for second or third placing in the league.”

Although the win did not change the team’s fifth position in the league but it gives them 27 points after 17 matches and keeps them on the heels of second-placed Perak who have 31 points.
