-

SINGER and actress Ziana Zain’s (pic) divorce case has been set for July 12, reported Kosmo!.

Syariah court judge Mohd Nizar Mohtar set the date after Ziana’s former husband Armin Zaharin Ahmad, 53, was absent from the proceedings on Thursday without giving notice.

Mohd Nizar said based on reports received, both parties had an amicable agreement that the divorce be settled in court.

If that was not achieved, he said it was recommended that a special committee be formed to look into it.

> A WOMAN gave up her teaching job to look after her father who is paralysed and she has no regrets doing so, reported Harian Metro.

Siti Salmiza Md Azmi, 38, quit her job in a college three years ago because she wanted to ease the burden of her 62-year-old mother Siti Bidah Ismail, who is the caregiver.

Siti Salmiza’s father, Md Azmi Daud, 67, is paralysed on the right side of his body after suffering from a stroke five years ago due to high blood pressure.

And about a year ago, he began to gradually lose his memory and ability to walk.

“My mother used to run a sundry shop but she had to close it to focus on caring for my father.”

These days, both mother and daughter take turns to feed and bathe Md Azmi.

“Some days, my husband helps too,” Siti Salmiza said when met at her home in Kampung Kok Lanas in Kota Baru.

Siti Salmiza, who has four children, said she also does part-time tailoring to reduce her husband’s burden.

“That income is not regular but it is somewhere between RM500 and RM600, depending on the customers.

“I need to be careful in managing our finances because apart from setting aside some money for my dad, I also need to take care of my kids who are in school,” she added.

Although her father receives RM300 welfare aid monthly, Siti Salmiza said that is not enough to buy all the things needed for her father.

She said at least RM500 is spent monthly to buy diapers and medication for him.
