Najwa: My bank account frozen after I posted bail for dad
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s daughter Nooryana Najwa has claimed that her personal bank account was frozen after she posted bail for her father.
She wrote on a closed Facebook group ‘Malaysians for Civil Liberty’ yesterday that her bank informed her that they received instructions to freeze not only her bank account, but also her son’s account.
“Immediately after I posted bail for my dad yesterday with funds collected from friends and relatives, my bank said it had instructions to freeze my personal account which I use to pay for my own school fees,” she wrote.
But Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) denied the claim that her son’s account was frozen.
Najwa added that her son’s bank account had RM100, which was from his first duit raya.
“What does my baby’s duit raya have to do with 1MDB? Is this the new Malaysia people were praying for?” she added.
The Facebook group was formed in midJune with the main objective “to ensure that Najib would be treated fairly, objectively and without any prejudice”.
“Hopefully in the future, we can progress to become a group which promotes human rights and civil liberties in Malaysia irrespective of political affiliation,” it said in its description.
