Thai man and teenage son jailed two years

KUALA TERENGGANU: A father and his teenage son will spend two years in jail after the Sessions Court here found them guilty of possessing traps and keeping two endangered turtles without a permit.

Judge Azman Mustapha meted out the sentences on Thai nationals Canthi Cantupa, 44, and his son Pipop,18.

He ordered them to serve their jail terms concurrent­ly.

They committed the offence at the Jengai forest reserve in Dungun on June 21, where they were found with 13 traps in their possession.

They were also charged with keeping two Spiny Turtles without a permit.
