‘Abolishing toll will be done later’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Works Minister Baru Bian has asked the people to be patient over Pakatan Harapan’s promise to abolish toll collection.

“We are trying hard to fulfil promises in the GE14 manifesto.

“What we have promised, we will have to do it,” he said when met at his ministry’s Hari Raya gathering here yesterday.

Baru said there were many things that are needed to be looked into and considered before toll collection could be abolished.

“We cannot rush into things,” he added.

When it was pointed out that the 100 days period to fulfil Pakatan’s manifesto pledges were fast closing in, Baru said they would do things in a proper manner.

“What is important is our desire to fulfil the promises. I would like to ask the people to be patient,” he added.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was reported to have said that Pakatan’s promise to abolish toll collection would only be looked at once Malaysia’s financial situation improves.
