KAJANG: A gang of robbers with 17 criminal records among them rammed their stolen vehicle against a police patrol car after being cornered near a hypermarket in Bandar Teknologi Kajang.

The three men had swiped the car 14 hours earlier.

They were overpowered by police in a scuffle and arrested at around 6.30pm on Thursday.

The men, aged between 37 and 48, are believed to have been responsible for three cases of house break-ins and car-jacking in Kajang and Nilai, Negri Sembilan.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said a minor scuffle had ensued while police were arresting the suspects.

“However, our personnel managed to overpower them and made the arrests,” he said.

Two of the suspects had 10 and seven criminal records between them for multiple offences, including drug abuse, added ACP Ahmad Dzaffir.

“They were also previously jailed for drug offences and house breakins.

“All three of them tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said.

Further checks on their vehicle, said ACP Ahmad Dzaffir, revealed that it had been reported stolen in Nilai.

“We seized several mobile phones, laptops, cash in different denominations, a few personal documents, a gold necklace and two pairs of gold earrings.

“We also found several tools used for house break-ins,” he said.

After questioning one of the suspects, police, he added, recovered another vehicle reported stolen in Bandar Teknologi on July 9.

“They also admitted to commit- ting house break-ins in Cheras Perdana. This revelation has led to us recovering a stolen laptop, jewellery and a few personal documents,” he said.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir said with the arrests, three cases of house breakins and car-jacking in Kajang and Nilai were believed to have been solved.

“We believe they are responsible for more cases in the Klang Valley,” he said.
