Wan used an eight-iron at the 140-metre hole surrounded by bunkers. With a bit more luck he would have driven home a brand new BMW 118i M Sport. This was the hole-in-one prize on the par-3 7th hole.

He did receive a miniature BMW “car” and was also presented with a certificate of achievement from the club.

Wan’s efforts had him capture the gross title with a score of 77. For that he received a trophy, Sharp sound bar and a 3D/2N stay at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.

Pleased with his performance, Wan said: “I played well and I am happy to have got the hole-in-one. It’s just a pity it was not on the other par-3.”

The nett title went to Azlan Yahya. He carded a nett score 62 to win a trophy, Sharp freezer and a 3D/2N stay at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.

The tournament, with six qualifiers played on a stroke play format, saw the second leg feature familiar and new faces. It also enjoyed fine weather and was enjoyed by all present.

“Having repeat and regular golfers playing at Damai Laut Golf & Country Club is important for our long term sustainability and we look forward to their continuous support,” said the resort’s general manager Patrick Tee at the prize-giving ceremony.

“We can also report that Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut is undergoing some renovation with a total of 78 rooms complete and adding a further 14 to the inventory each month,” added Tee.

“And as expected, the sea-facing rooms with the new bathroom concept have proved the most popular at our resort.”
