IPOH: The post of special adviser to Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu should be given to a PKR representative, says its Srikandi chief Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail.

She said this was to ensure equality among all parties in Pakatan Harapan in the state government.

Siti Aishah, who is also Perak PKR information head, said even if she was not picked for the post, the chosen one should be from PKR.

“This is because there are only two representatives from the party in the state exco line-up.

“There is nothing wrong if a representative from PKR gets the post.

“If I am not chosen, I will not hold any grudges,” she said at a Hari Raya event at her family home here yesterday.

Siti Aishah was in the spotlight recently for withdrawing her candidacy as the state assembly Speaker.

She was one of two nominees for the post. DAP’s Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham was elected as the Speaker.

There was talk that Siti Aishah was pressured to withdraw from the race after she voiced her frustration on social media.

She said she never felt pressured by Pakatan leaders and had made the previous statements to ensure a better Pakatan leadership.

On another matter, she voiced her support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest PKR’s presidency.

She said this was the wish of the grassroots, though she also paid tribute to current president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“We hope he will be the Prime Minister-in-waiting, so it is better for him to take the post as president,” she added.
