Drug syndicate crippled with arrest of dealers

-

KUANTAN: A police-led drug bust cripples yet another narcotics trafficking ring in the state following the arrests of its dealers.

Pahang Narcotics CID chief Supt Lam Thiam Huat said based on a tip-off, they arrested two men, aged 26 and 30, at Tapak Pekan Sehari in Temerloh on July 16.

“We found a plastic bag of heroin weighing 1.3kg and 1.18g of ganja on them, as well as 4.5 litres of cough syrup in their car.

“They then led us to a house in Taman Anggerik Utama in Bentong where we found another 769.85g of ganja, 1.25g of psychotropic pills and 12 litres of cough syrup.

“We believe they rented the house as a store,” said Supt Lam here yesterday.

Police, he said, also confiscated RM530 in cash, bringing the total value of the seized items to RM45,466.40.

“The men admitted to dealing in drugs obtained from Kuala Lumpur.

It’s believed that the drugs were being trafficked in Temerloh, Jengka and Kuantan.

“Early investigations found that they are part of a syndicate.

“The 30-year-old suspect has four prior drug-related criminal charges,” said Supt Lam.

Follow-up investigations, he said, led police to another two suspects from a different gang on July 18.

“We arrested a 21-year-old man in Kuantan and seized a packet of syabu weighing 103.2g, valued at RM15,480,” he said, adding that the syabu was from Kota Baru.

A 28-year-old suspect was picked up in Taman Tunas Mahkota after further investigation.

“Although the two suspects are not linked to the gang in the first raid, we managed to track them from our investigations as they were in a circle of drug dealers in Pahang,” said Supt Lam.

The duo in the first raid are on remand until Monday while the other two would be on remand until Wednesday.
