Full MH370 report out July 30
Loke: Committee to present findings to victims’ families
PUTRAJAYA: The full and final report on the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will be released on July 30, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
He said the report will be presented to the victims’ next of kin during a briefing at the ministry that morning.
The families have already been notified to attend the closed-door briefing by representatives from Malaysia Airlines.
“The briefing will be followed by a press conference in the afternoon,” Loke told reporters at the ministry here yesterday.
“I promised when I took the oath as Transport Minister that we will be transparent in handling this report and it will be released in July,” he said.
The presentation of the report to the families and media will be done by the Malaysian ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370, led by Datuk Kok Soo Chon.
“I will not be involved as the report is by them.
“We respect the independence of the (investigation) committee so they will do the briefing and will answer the questions (related to the report).
“The report will be presented in full, without any edits, additions or amendments,” he said.
He said that initially, 1,000 copies of the full report, including appendixes and data, will be printed.
Each victim’s family would receive a copy of the report, he said.
He said that every media organisation at the press conference and every foreign mission in the country will also receive a copy.
Both houses of Parliament would be presented with the report the next day, he said.
The report would also be uploaded on the ministry’s website, he added.
“This is a very transparent measure. We will present this to the public and the international community can have access to the report online,” he added.
MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
The 777-200ER aircraft had 12 crew members and 227 passengers, with the bulk of the passengers being Chinese citizens.
The last search for the aircraft ended on March 29.
