Trader sells ikan kembung cheaply and still profits

-

A FISHMONGER in Sungai Petani created a surprise by selling ikan kembung (Indian mackerel) at between five and 30 sen each as opposed to the going price of about RM10 per kg, Kosmo! Ahad reported.

The shop also sells giant freshwater prawns at 70 sen to RM1 each while ikan cencaru (torpedo scad) is sold at 20 sen each.

It is little wonder why the shop owned by Khairol Azelan Johari, 37, situated in front of Masjid al-Majidi, Kampung Sungai Layar, is always crowded when it opens at 3pm.

On Saturday, Khairol earned a profit of RM1,500 after selling about 6,000 ikan kembung priced at 5 sen each, while about 4,000 bigger sized ikan kembung were sold at 30 sen each.

“This is my way of promoting Pasar Kampung that I have owned since three years ago. I also want to share the rezeki with my customers,” he said.

Khairol said he obtained his seafood supply from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, Kuala Muda, Tanjung Dawai and from fishermen nearby him.

> Actress Fasha Sanda has admitted that she is in a relationship with 30-year-old actor Mohd Aidil Abdul Aziz, reported Metro Ahad.

“I am comfortable with Aidil. He is a modest guy and I have known him for more than six months.

“Furthermore, he is single and not someone’s husband. So I’m not worried about being friends with him,” she said.

Fasha, however, would not reveal if the relationship would end up with an engagement.

I also want to share the rezeki with my customers. Khairol Azelan Johari
