Negri eyeing Airbus investment in the state

-

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan is working to ensure that aircraft manufacturer Airbus will set up its facility in the state, says Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

He said among the moves were simplifying procedures to convince Airbus that the state was an ideal location as an aviation hub.

“The Federal Government may consider giving tax exemptions. But on our part, we will make sure everything is favourable, including offering excellent infrastructure and other facilities for Airbus.

“We want to make it enticing as possible because we want them to invest here,” he said here yesterday.

It was earlier reported that Airbus wants to conduct a feasibil- ity study on the setting up of an aviation hub here.

If the move goes through, Malaysia would be home to the French aircraft maker’s fifth facility in the world after Toulouse, Hamburg, Tianjin and Alabama.

Airbus chief commercial officer Eric Schulz had indicated the group’s willingness to do so to AirAsia chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

Aminuddin said although there was a huge tract of private land near Labu here, the state government was also prepared to provide alternatives.

On a separate matter, Aminuddin said his administration would revive the national feedlot project or “Beef Valley” in Gemas near here.
