> Makkal Osai reported that 108 Hindu women had taken part in an oil lamp festival held in conjunction with the auspicious Aadi month.

The kuthu vilakku ceremony was organised by the Arulmigu Raja Mariamman Temple in Johor Baru with the help of local Hindu leaders.

The Aadi month is an auspicious month for Hindus with many ceremonies and prayers.

The oil lighting ceremony is believed to help married women have a good family life and singles to find good spouses.

The temple, said organiser V. Kamala, had been organising the ceremony for many years as an important religious festival for the community.
