Our business is completely clean, says Monspace founder

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The current investigations into Monspace will prove that the business is completely clean, says its founder.

“We are 100% working with the authorities. In these past four years, there have been a lot of questions on whether Monspace was involved in money games.

“Since we started four years ago, we have had no such activity.

“Up to now (Friday), however, I have yet to receive any call from the investigating officers, ” said company founder Datuk Seri Jessy Lai yesterday.

Lai called for the press conference at her Bukit Jalil office after the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry recently raided Monspace offices.

She said the investigations would not affect the daytoday operations and business would be as normal.

She said the only thing that currently concerned her was paying the staff members as 72 bank accounts have been frozen by the authorities.

Lai said only 15 were directly linked to Monspace while the re maining accounts were still being verified by her team.

Regarding her travel ban, Lai said she would comply with the instructions, but stressed that she did not have plans to leave the country.

On Wednesday, a press conference by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement director Datuk Roslan Mahayudin was held regarding recent raids on Monspace offices.

The operation, dubbed Ops Coin, saw raids on 16 premises linked to the company for allegedly running an illegal investment or “money games” scheme.

Around 72 accounts containing about RM5mil were frozen by the authorities.

We have no money game activity.
