Ministry to review safety recommendations
PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry will review the safety recommendations and take the appropriate improvement measures to prevent future air accidents.
Commenting on the 449-page report by the MH370 safety investigation team on the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 released yesterday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the Government will also conduct a thorough investigation and take legal action against any misconduct based on the findings.
He also commended the investigating team, led by Datuk Kok Soo Chon, that followed international convention and practices in its investigation.
“The team has been given full freedom in conducting the investigation and not a single edit or amendment has been made to the report.
“The report contained analysis of airworthiness, maintenance and aircraft systems, air traffic control operations, cargo consignment, crew profile, diversion from flight plan route, organisational and management infor- mation of DCA ( now called Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia) and Malaysia Airlines and satellite communications,” he said.
“The Cabinet, on July 11, was briefed and took note of the findings in the report,” he said in a statement.
The 19-member investigating team yesterday released a report on the missing MH370, saying the aircraft’s controls were likely deliberately manipulated to take it off course but they were not able to determine who was responsible.
The report, however, drew no conclusion about what happened aboard the plane that was lost with 239 people on board en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014.
Loke also said the Government has not abandoned its aspiration to locate MH370 and remained hopeful in finding the answer to the plane’s disappearance.
“We remain ever hopeful we will be able to find the answers we seek when credible evidence becomes available.
“With the release of this report, my heart goes out to the families and loved ones of those on board Flight MH370,” he said.
“Malaysia, together with the international community, stands in solidarity with the next of kin during this trying times," he added.
