Orphans learn about patriotism and unity during trip to National Zoo
KUALA LUMPUR: The excitement of the children from Pusat Jagaan Budaya Harapan was contagious as they went on their firstever trip to the National Zoo, sporting eyecatching #AnakAnakMalaysia 2018 campaign wristbands.
The 67 less-privileged children aged between three and 16 from the home in Rawang rarely get to go for outings like this.
For that reason, the Malaysian Bumiputra Designer Association (MBDA) decided on the trip as part of its corporate social responsibility project.
To kill two birds with one stone, its president Bon Zainal Harun said the group wore #AnakAnakMalaysia wristbands on their zoo trip to show support for the unity campaign.
“Patriotism is all about taking ownership of the country and fighting for the nation, not by taking up arms, but by preserving its cultures and serving the communities.
“We want to show people that Malaysia is all about unity in diversity as we are made up of different people and cultures, but when you put all these together, this is the result and we will always be Malaysians,” said the popular menswear designer.
Bon hopes the #AnakAnakMalaysia campaign will enable the children to serve others in the future.
“I hope that when they grow up, these children will serve others not just with money, but with their service and good values.
“We hope as future leaders, they will grow up to be better Malaysians who will together help drive the country forward,” said Bon.
He added that in light of the Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, MBDA wanted to see a nation united at the heart.
Therefore, come Sept 2, Bon and his peers from MBDA will walk side by side with other Malaysians to celebrate the spirit of unity and patriotism in the #AnakAnakMalaysia 2018 campaign.
Organised by Malaysia’s well-known property developer Eco World Development Group Bhd and Star Media Group, the cam- paign is back for the fourth year and this time with the theme #JomKeHadapan.
