-

SINGAPOREAN singer Stefanie Sun delivered a baby girl on July 25, reported China Press.

She posted a picture of her carrying the girl weighing 2.79kg on social media on Monday.

Her fans also complimented her glowing complexion and ruddy cheeks after giving birth.

With the daughter, it symbolises hao (good) as the Chinese character is made up of two characters – female and male. Sun has a son.

Describing her feelings as ecstat- ic, Sun said she also felt “hungry” when she was in labour.

She expressed gratitude to her fans, and hoped that the media would allow them some privacy during this period.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a family of 28 is living in a dilapidated shelter in Alor Setar.

A retired security guard known only as Isa, 75, and his 65-year-old wife Zamani have been living in the two-room shelter separated by a piece of cloth.

The others are their 10 children (three sons and seven daughters) aged between 14 and 28, a son-inlaw and 15 grandchildren.

Isa’s family had been renting the place since his grandfather’s time, about 100 years ago with a yearly rental of RM72.

He said four of his seven daughters had married, adding that they were working at food outlets and a shoe shop.

He said his son-in-law is a construction worker, and all of them are earning meagre incomes.

Isa said his eldest child had been suffering from mental problems, while his youngest child quit school two years ago.

He said the former state government had promised them a low-cost unit, about 30km away. He declined as it was too far and was inconvenient to his working daughters.

State exco member Halimaton Saadiah Saad paid them a visit on Monday, and promised to look into their plight.
