Overseas grads get higher paying jobs
Survey finds businesses are increasingly seeking those who have global awareness
PETALING JAYA: Graduates with an overseas education tend to have higher paying jobs at more senior positions, said HeriotWatt University Malaysia head of marketing and student recruitment Sarah Jane Tate.
“A survey of international graduates by the United Kingdom Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE) concluded that international businesses are increasingly seeking graduates who have global awareness,” she said.
She noted that a quality global education is the passport to a bright future.
“Opportunities to experience different cultures and countries, learn and improve language skills while studying, enable graduates to find employment faster and progress quicker in their careers.
“Today’s students have access to more opportunities and choices as to how and where they study than any preceding generation,” said Tate.
She will be speaking about “Why Having A Global Education Is Important?” from 2pm to 2.30pm this Saturday at the Education and Career Talks segment at the Star Education Fair 2018.
On the same day, Travex International College founder and director Keriun Ong will present “Tourism Industry Career Opportunities” from 1.30pm to 2pm.
MedCoach International Consulting Co Ltd founder and programme director Dr Atchara Srisodsai will touch on “Study Medicine in Hungary: World Class Medical School in Europe” from 4.15pm to 4.45pm.
She will provide practical information about studying medicine in Hungary – elaborating on entry requirements to universities, curriculum, accommodation, student life, scholarships as well as medicine and dentistry programmes available at Hungary’s University of Debrecen.
Catch Tate, Ong and Dr Atchara on the first day of the Star Education Fair 2018 this Saturday under the Education and Career Talks segment.
Other talks on subjects such as work and study overseas, medicine, nursing, computer science, performing arts and disruptive technology will also be held at the fair’s Education and Career Talks segment on both days.
Qualified counsellors and academic staff from local and international higher learning institutions will be present to brief students and parents on a wide range of programmes.
