BEIJING: The families of the Chinese victims on board the illfated Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 have demanded the search and rescue mission be continued.

One of them, Jiang Hui, said many questions on what had happened to the jetliner were unanswered.

“The whereabouts of the plane and our family members still remain a mystery.

“The search and rescue mission cannot be halted just like that,” he said.

About 100 next of kin attended a briefing here yesterday on the MH370 safety investigation report, which was earlier released in Putrajaya on Monday.

The event was specially held for the Chinese in view that most of the 239 people on board were Chinese nationals.

It was conducted by the head of the investigation team Datuk Kok Soo Chon.

The Beijingbound MH370 had disappeared on March 8, 2014, and has remained as one of the greatest aviation mysteries despite a massive hunt.

Many of the Chinese family members believe that their loved ones are still alive despite there being no news of them for more than four years.

They are not satisfied with the outcome of the investigation and insisted that a new and in depth probe be conducted.

A distraught mother said if the plane had crashed, she wanted to know its exact location.

Earlier, in a meeting with Malaysia Airlines executive, the family members also conveyed their wish to meet with the Malaysian Government.

One of them requested MH370 crisis director Mohd Fuad Sharuji to arrange for a meeting between them and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

A summary of the report, in both Chinese and English, as well as the English version of the full report were distributed to the next of kin.
