Leaders pay last respects to assemblyman
KAJANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail paid her last respects to Seri Setia assemblyman Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin who died of colon cancer yesterday.
She visited Masjid Jamiurrahmah in Kampung Limau Manis here at about 9am.
“We are sad to have lost Dr Shaharuddin, who was also a state executive councillor,” Dr Wan Azizah said.
Dr Shaharuddin, 55, died at about 6.30pm on Thursday at Putrajaya Hospital, leaving behind his wife Adibah Ahmad and six children.
Dr Shaharuddin was the Selangor Islamic Affairs, Education and Human Capital Development Committee chairman.
Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Sungai Kandis state byelection, also paid his last respects to Dr Shaharuddin at the mosque.
He described Dr Shaharuddin as an intellectual and activist who was deeply committed to his task.
Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shaari, Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, PKR vicepresident Tian Chua and Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki were among those who also came.
Dr Shaharuddin’s remains were brought from the family home in Desa Pinggiran Putra to the mosque for prayers before the burial at about 10am at the Kampung Limau Manis Muslim Cemetery. — Bernama
