Forging unity through domestic tourism
Ex-beauty queen urges ministers to do their bit to promote M’sia
PETALING JAYA: Elected representatives should put in effort to support unity campaigns and promote domestic tourism, says Miss Tourism International 2011.
Gabriella Robinson (pic), who is of Chinese, Indian and English parentage, is passionate about the country’s colourful cultures and attractive sights.
“Our country is beautiful and peaceful, which enables us to travel from state to state.
“It would be good to see our newly appointed ministers encouraging people in their constituencies to visit neighbouring states,” she said.
Robinson said the growing affluence among Malaysians boded well for domestic tourism, while the nation’s harmonious setting could bolster the economic engine and reinforce unity through visits to other cities and towns.
She said Selangor, in particular, had much to offer to domestic tourists.
The #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk, for example, had the potential to become a tourist attraction for outoftowners to visit the state and check out interesting sites over the weekend, she said.
“#AnakAnakMalaysia must be held with full zest as it has the potential to bring more Malaysians together for a good time, leading to greater understanding among all and strengthening a harmonious society,” she said.
Robinson added that being part of the walk offered participants the opportunity to create a wider circle of friends and find new creative ideas to empower themselves.
The registration fee for the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk is RM40 (adult) / RM20 (child) / RM100 (family package for two adults and two children).
The event is a collaboration between Malaysia’s well known property developer Eco World Development Group Bhd and Star Media Group. Other sponsors for the event include Panasonic (Silver Sponsor) and DRBHicom (Car Sponsor).
