> A female promoter of a housing company was arrested for allegedly offering to sell lowcost houses at nonexistent land lots around Bandar Pusat Jengka, Pahang, on Thursday, reported Sinar Harian.

The suspect was arrested after one of her victims made a police report.

State Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said the victim,72, was approached by two individuals who offered a house at a low price and had agreed to it.

Supt Wazir said the suspect then asked the victim to pay RM100 deposit and promised to give the relevant documents in few days.

However on July 25, the woman demanded an extra RM300 to proceed further with the purchase.

The victim sought further information after making the payment but became suspicious with the suspect’s evasive behaviour.

“Fearful of being cheated, the victim made a police report,” he said.
