Run-up to PKR elections takes an ugly turn

-

PETALING JAYA: The tussle in the PKR camp before the party polls has become uglier with an aide to a minister defending his boss against allegations that she had threatened another politician.

In a statement, Nor Hizwan Ahmad, the political secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, demanded that Kapar PKR MP Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid issue an apology for making false statements against Zuraida and the Pakatan Harapan leadership.

Nor Hizwan added that the personal attacks on Zuraida, who is Wanita PKR chief, and Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali by Abdullah Sani and his wife Datin Faezah Ariffin had embarrassed both Pakatan and PKR.

“What is more shameful is the accusation that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Daim Zainuddin are conspiring to stop Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming prime minister.

“What Abdullah Sani had said is extremely irresponsible.

“It is clear that his false statements against the Pakatan leadership are a betrayal of the reformasi spirit and New Malaysia’s aspirations,” Nor Hizwan said in his statement yesterday.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Abdullah Sani had accused Zuraida of threatening to “punch and strip” Faezah naked.

The threat, he said, had been sent by a PKR member to his wife through a WhatsApp message on Monday afternoon.

Faezah, who is contesting for a vice-president’s post in PKR’s Women’s wing, was reported to have criticised Zuraida’s leadership.

Zuraida is contesting for a vice-president’s post in PKR’s central leadership committee.
