PE TA L I NG J AYA : Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is thankful that the country can celebrate Hari Raya Haji safely and peacefully.

“We can celebrate ( Hari Raya Aidiladha) in a peaceful and safe situation.

“The country does not feel doubtful of the ruling government which upholds the tenets of Islam,” he said in a one- minute video uploaded on his YouTube channel Chedet Official yesterday.

Noting that the “country had recovered”, Dr Mahathir said all Muslims could celebrate the occasion in peace.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail called on all Muslims to celebrate the occasion meaningfully by improving their friendship and brotherhood as well as being more aware of the needs of the local communities.

“During Aidiladha, we are reminded of our roles and concerns as a servant, community member and leader – everyone helping each other to carry out our responsibilities in line with our positions,” she said.

In her speech posted on her Facebook page, Dr Wan Azizah also reminded the people to give generously to the needy, to take good care of their health and be careful while travelling.

“We want this occasion to be a wonderful memory – do not let it be a bitter one,” she added.
