PETALING JAYA: The #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk has become such a hit that some people make it a point to collect the walk’s wristbands each year.

Since 2014, Christine Wong, 56, has taken part in all the walks.

She has become the walk’s wristband collector among her peers.

Last year she roped in some 16 of her friends from the Rukun Tetangga (RT) Section 14A, Petaling Jaya to participate in the walk.

“I had so much fun and I told my friends about it. It was their first time last year and they too had fun.

“I also keep all the bands because it reminds of the good memories I had at the walks,” said Wong.

Wong and some 20 of her friends will once again be participating at this year’s #AnakAnakMalayisa walk and they hope to have more fun and take more selfies.

The RT Section 14A chairman Tee Kee Tian, 60, said the walk was a unity fostering event and he would recommend others to join based on his positive experience last year.

He added the RT was founded in 1975 and is the oldest in the country.

“It was so beautiful to see people from all races, religions and ages come together. It was such a muhibbah walk.

“The event was well planned and it was well coordinated. There were many photobooths and we made sure we snapped pictures at each booth” said Tee who will be participating for the second time this year.

Tee said just like last year the group would be heading to Klang after the event to have bak kut teh.

He said the unity the country has achieved was admirable and events to promote such aspiration is always welcomed.
