KUALA LUMPUR:

A DAP lawmaker has revealed that Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) – the welfare arm of the Federal Territories Ministry – owns at least 12 plots of land in the city.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said under the previous administration, the land totalling 12.22ha, was registered to YWP between 2009 and 2018.

He claimed the plots were formerly state land that were transferred to YWP, without an open tender.

“As a foundation, YWP has no business developing land which are mostly for commercial or residential use.

“They could not develop the land themselves and it would have to be either sell (the plots) or they would have to joint venture with developers,” he told a press conference.

Lim said at least two plots, in Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Sentul, are in the process of being sold.

He said the details of these transfers were provided by the Federal Territory Lands and Mines Department.

“According to my source, a further seven plots of land are also registered to YWP.

“I will be lodging a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate if there is any wrongdoing in these transfers,” he said.

Lim added that he would also be writing to Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad to freeze any transactions for these lands pending an investigation.

YWP declined to comment when contacted.
