Bazlan tops Cobra Puma leaderboar­d at Palm Garden

THE inaugural Cobra Puma ilovegolf tournament at Palm Garden Golf Club in Putrajaya proved a huge success with a field of more than 100 players in attendance.

There were six golfers who received special entry after their purchases of Cobra Puma products worth RM3,000 or more were acknowledg­ed by the organisers.

And to make the event more fun, the top-20 players got to choose their prizes from a wide selection of golf gear laid out on the day.

With more RM20,000 worth of prizes to choose from, Bazlan Rahman got the first pick after he topped the leaderboar­d following an absorbing day’s action. The nine-handicappe­r had 38 Stableford points to his credit and he went home with a set of Cobra irons.

Twelve-handicappe­r Nor Azhar Mohd Noor also had 38 points and finished runner-up, while Sahrudin Sharan, playing off a 13 handicap, was third. He too signed for 38 points.

The initial countback is determined by virtue of one’s handicap, and the lower the better.

In the novelty contests Pakhruddin Abd Majid won a nearest-to-pin prize after his ball came to rest 9ft 4in from the flagstick and Muhammad Bin Baser collected the other when his ball was measured at just 4ft 5in from the cup.

Aris Afza Mohd Noor blasted his ball 229 metres off the tee to capture the longest drive prize.

The grand lucky draw winner was Ahmad Tarmidzi won a 3D/2N stay at the Saujana Hotel, coupled with two rounds of golf at Saujana Golf & Country Club.

At the prize presentati­on, Cobra Puma Golf Southeast Asia head Clay Gary gave a brief talk on Cobra’s new King F8 line of clubs and the latest apparel from Puma.

The golfers also tried out the Cobra King F8 driver, Baffler fairway woods, hybrids irons and irons at certain holes on the course.

Among the more than 30 lucky draw prizes were products from the event’s main marketing partners Garmin, Carlsberg, Colantotte and Palm Garden.
