Ibrahim: Patriotic walks are memorable
PETALING JAYA: Memories made at previous #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk are priceless. Others must experience it too, says Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman.
“I treasure a photo taken with Malaysian football legend Datuk Soh Chin Aun and professor Dr Sivamurugan Pandian at a previous walk,” said the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia director-general. “It is special to me.”
Ibrahim, who has taken part in two previous #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk will do it again this year with 40 of his department staff and 20 anak-anak Merdeka because they were born on Aug 31.
The information department will also be distributing some 2,000 hand-held flags and copies of Semarak Malaysia, a booklet that contains interesting facts of Merdeka, at the walk.
Ibrahim and his team of officers presented these at Menara Star yesterday. They were greeted by Star Media Group Bhd’s chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, chief revenue officer Lydia Wang and executive editor Brian Martin.
Ibrahim said the department supported the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk because it gave Malaysians an opportunity to put aside their political differences and celebrate togetherness.
He also encouraged all Malaysians to participate in the Merdeka day parade that would be held in Putrajaya this year.
Present were four anak-anak Malaysia who would be participating at the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk.
Among them was Rosnani Zakaria, 61, a kindergarten teacher, who was born in 1957.
“My parents worked for a multinational company and Merdeka celebration was always grand and I felt special during these celebrations,” she said.
Another anak Merdeka, Mohd Nazrin Zainuddin, 45, was born at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. He was delivered by his grandmother who was then a matron there.
Researcher at Kuala Lumpur Hospital Nor’Asiken Lajis, 55, and Sales Manager Che Puteh Zainol Abidin, 55, are the other two.
