Hisham’s security guards back in armed forces
KUALA LUMPUR: The three security personnel members who had allegedly served as escorts for former defence minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein have reported back for duty with the armed forces.
Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said investigations into the matter were still ongoing.
“They have reported back for duty,” he told reporters after attending his ministry’s monthly assembly here yesterday.
It was reported that the armed forces is investigating claims that three soldiers were still serving as escorts for Hishammuddin, although he was no longer the defence minister.
The three were also alleged to have been drawing salaries from both the armed forces and Hishammuddin.
In a tweet, Hishammuddin said the three had close ties with him and his family and had been serving them for a long time.
He added that they were serving him “temporarily”.
According to Hishammuddin, he had offered them employment but they must resign from the armed forces with immediate effect.
On another matter, Mohamad said there would be an increase in the number of Russianmade RMAF fighter jets taking part in the flypast during the Merdeka Day parade.
He added that there would be more than four of the 28 Russian jets in operation on that day.
