Engineer jailed for killing man
Victim allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend
AN oil and gas engineer was sentenced to 18 years in prison after he confessed to beating a 31-year-old man to death because his exgirlfriend had told him that the man had raped her and got her pregnant, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The engineer, 34, had gone to his exgirlfriend’s house on June 22 to confront the man and assaulted him. He then tied up the victim to bring him to the police.
The victim had pleaded with the man to settle things discreetly and offered to bear all the cost for the baby but the defendant was determined to bring him to the police station.
However, the victim died before they reached the police station due to lack of oxygen. A DNA test later revealed that the engineer was the father of the baby.
The engineer was sentenced on Monday in Johor Baru.
