Special events held all over the country
PETALING JAYA: Malaysians will be spoilt for choice with several venues nationwide holding special events for the National Day celebration.
The highlight will be the annual National Day parade at Putrajaya as it is the first ever held under the Pakatan Harapan government.
Riding high on the Malaysia Baru ( New Malaysia) spirit, this year’s National Day celebration at Putrajaya is one that is anticipated by many Malaysians.
Around 300,000 people will be coming to Putrajaya for the celebration today.
This will be the third time the celebration will be held in Putrajaya after 13 years. The contingents will march for 3.2km along Persiaran Perdana from 8am.
The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2018 convoy, which was flagged off by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Padang Kota Lama, Penang on Aug 4, will also be arriving at Dataran Putrajaya.
Another highlight of the National Day celebrations will be at KLCC where one can witness spectacular fireworks with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers as a backdrop at night.
There will also be performances from various artistes such as Jay Jay, Francissca Peter, Kashira and others, starting from 9pm until midnight.
In Penang, the Merdeka Parade 2018 organised by the state government will be held at Esplanade, Jalan Padang Kota Lama.
In Ipoh, there will also be a Merdeka Parade at Ipoh Town Hall in the morning, which will be graced by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Zara Salim. Some of National Day celebration events: 7am/8am: The annual National Day Parade at Putrajaya

8pm: Merdeka Saya Anak Malaysia Live Concert at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre
9pm: Merdeka@KLCC, music and fireworks performance at KLCC Esplanade
