A day full of curiosity and fun for young Hafiy in KK

-

KOTA KINABALU: Among the thousands of visitors and participants turning up for the state-level National Day parade here, one boy stood out.

Restless with excitement, he was seen running up to the barrier several times and peppering his father with questions. “What is that?

“Why are they wearing that?” he asked, pointing to a tanker and a group of soldiers in camouflage clothing.

It turned out that the boy, Hafiy Nazhan Habibi, seven, is the son of city police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji.

“My wife and I have been bringing him to these events and he gets excited every time,” said ACP Habibi.

The city police chief also added that his son was a huge fan of parades.

He said for National Day, his son was ready since 6am to follow him to the parade.

Asked why he was excited to watch the parade, the boy said: “Syiok (fun), best”.

Hafiy said he liked the contingent of the uniformed personnel the best as they reminded him of his father. The youngest of five siblings said he wanted to be a policeman just like his father and grandfather.

The state-level celebration, which kicked off at 7am, was attended by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and other state Cabinet members.

A total of 149 contingents from various groups and departments as well as the security forces took part in the parade.

Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony also announced that many districts in the state held their own National Day event.

“We will be seeing many similar events throughout these weeks up to Malaysia Day on Sept 16,” he said.
