MELAKA: Tangga Batu MP Prof Rusnah Aluai was verbally attacked by a party leader for offering herself to contest a position in the state PKR election.

In the incident on Tuesday night at the Melaka International Trade Centre, Rusnah was with her supporters when a Melaka Historic City councillor confronted her during the balloting process for the state committee and women wing.

It is learnt the situation turned chaotic when the councillor, a PKR branch leader, started behaving in an aggressive manner and shouted abusive words.

Her husband, Umair Mohammad Aslam, who came to her defence, was also manhandled during the commotion.

Following the scuffle, two police reports were lodged at the Ayer Keroh police station.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Afzanizar Ahmad confirmed receiving the reports, adding that investi gations were ongoing under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.

The latest incident surfaced shortly after Klebang assemblyman Gue Teck was labelled by a party member as a “pork consumer” when he offered himself as a candi date for the party’s election.

In a posting on social media, the sender also hit out at PKR members who supported Gue, labelling them as “infidels”.

The Star had previously reported that gangsters and drunkards were allegedly appointed as councillors in four local councils in the state.
