SEREMBAN: A state government staff member, who allegedly posted comments and pictures of land clearing and logging in the Lenggeng forest reserve online is now in hot water after the matter was found to be untrue.

Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun said a police report would be lodged against the employee for slandering his administration.

“He alleged in his Facebook posting that the state Pakatan Harapan government was involved in the land clearing.

“We found no such activities there when we checked.

“Forestry Department officers took the man along, but they found nothing,” he said, adding that checks showed that the pictures were taken some time ago.

Aminuddin said it was unfortunate that there were government employees still bent on slandering Pakatan although it was now the government of the day.

“We are always willing to accept criticism, but do not make baseless allegations.

“Even the Prime Minister has repeated this many times, but it is sad that we still have such charac ters in the civil service,” he said.

On plans to declare Seremban a city in January, Aminuddin said the matter had been deferred due to delays in the completion of refurbishment works at the proposed Seremban City Council headquarters.

“We have also identified some weaknesses and will work on these,” he said.

He added that infrastructure and other basic amenities would also have to be improved before Seremban could be officially declared a city.

Former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had previously said that Seremban would be officially declared a city on Jan 14, 2019, in conjunction with the birthday celebration of Negri Sembilan Yang diPertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
