KUALA LUMPUR: An aide to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman is facing a police investigation after he was sacked for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman.

The man, in his 40s, was said to have been caught on CCTV using his smartphone to take an upskirt photo of a female worker at an optometry shop in a shopping complex here.

A video recording of the incident was later circulated on social media.

In the short clip, the man was seated next to another man believed to be Mohd Azis, who was having his eyes tested by the woman.

The man was then caught surreptitiously slipping his camera under the woman’s skirt while she was busy with the examination on Mohd Azis.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Saturday and the victim has made a police report.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy confirmed that a report on the incident was lodged by the 30-yearold victim.

In a statement released last night, Mohd Azis said he had sacked the officer.

“This individual had made the recording secretly while I was undergoing an eye exam.

“I have decided to fire the officer with immediate effect because his actions has damaged my image and credibility as deputy home minister.

“I apologise for the actions of the officer and his actions had nothing to do with other officers working with me,” he said.
