-

KUALA LUMPUR: The man who took upskirt photos of a female worker at an optometry store in a shopping complex here has been released on police bail.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Md Isa said the man, in his 40s, was released on Monday after he was arrested at about 1pm the same day.

“I confirm that he was released on police bail. We are investigating the matter further,” he said.

Police urged anyone with information on the case to contact senior investigating officer Asst Supt Azrizal Khairul Abd Kadir at 019276 9117 or the Sentul police district headquarters at 03-4048 2233.

It was reported that an aide to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman would be facing a police investigation after he was sacked for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman.

The man was caught on CCTV using his smartphone to take upskirt photos of a female worker.

A video recording of the incident was circulated on social media.

In the short clip, the man was seated next to another man believed to be Mohd Azis, who was having his eyes tested by the woman.

The man was then caught surreptitiously slipping his camera under the woman’s skirt while she was busy with the examination on Mohd Azis.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Saturday and the victim has lodged a police report.

In a statement on Sunday night, Mohd Azis said he had sacked the officer.
