Carina Lau denies hubby Tony Leung is retiring

-

HONG Kong actress Carina Lau Karling has denied that her husband, awardwinning actor Tony Leung Chiuwai, will be retiring, China Press reported.

Earlier, there were rumours that Leung, who has been taking a long break from work, wanted to retire.

Lau reportedly said Leung faced a bottleneck in his career and was thinking about his next step.

She said she was actively looking for a manager for him.

“I am starting to be impatient as I have not found him a manager. I cannot be his manager. This is to avoid quarrelling with him,” she said.

Lau temporarily acted as his manager after Leung and Jettone, a company owned by Wong Karwai that represented him for 28 years, went their separate ways in June.

Leung starred in many awardwinning films by Wong, including In The Mood for Love, The Grandmaster and Chungking Express.

> The daily also reported that China’s XMen actress Fan Bingbing, who is said to be under investigation for tax evasion, might not be sent to prison if she is found guilty.

Law expert Liu Qiaoyu said in a Weibo post that due to some amendments to certain tax evasion laws in 2009, Fan may not be slapped with a jail sentence even if found guilty.

However, the law expert said Fan would have to pay back all the taxes and faced a very high penalty.

Fan has reportedly disappeared from social media since June amid talk that she was barred from leaving China due to a tax evasion investigation.

A staterun Chinese publication, Securities Daily, confirmed that the actress was placed “under control and will accept the legal decision”.

Fan is said to be using yin-yang contracts, which allowed her to collect large sums of money by signing multiple contracts for a single film project and to evade taxes. Such contracts are illegal in China.
