PAS honing its polls strategy for GE15

-

KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS has begun its preparations for the next general election by working to improve its strategy, says party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He added that during GE14, PAS received strong backing from hardcore supporters and even fence-sitters, where the party received 2.04 million votes, or 18% of the popular votes.

“I’m confident that this number will continue to rise and our chances will be better in GE15,” he said in his opening address at the 64th PAS muktamar (general assembly) here yesterday.

Abdul Hadi said the party has developed a roadmap for the next general election, which he said could happen even before the fiveyear term is up by 2023.

He said the roadmap set clear goals, including efforts to promote Islam as an agent of change and national unity.

“We chose a democratic approach, which upholds the sanctity of Islam and the sovereignty of the country,” he added.

Abdul Hadi said steps that will be taken by PAS included strengthening its social media presence and strategy.

It will also fine tune its message to be more relevant to young people and non-Muslim voters.

“We will also put forward a realistic general election manifesto that contain promises that we are able to deliver,” he said.
