Police report lodged against Shafee and Abdul Azeez
PETALING JAYA: A police report has been lodged against senior lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and Baling MP Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahim.
The report was lodged on Friday at the Dang Wangi police headquarters by carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan, who claimed that both had allegedly interfered in a suit filed by the widow of the late private investigator P. Balasubramaniam over the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Deepak is also a defendant in the suit. In the report, he also claimed that he was forced to engage Muhammad Shafee as his lawyer by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He alleged that he had been prevented from being questioned in a cross-examination over his contradictory statements on three separate occasions during the trial of the suit.
Deepak claimed to also have in his possession audio and visual recordings to prove his allegations.
When contacted, Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Shaharuddin Abdullah confirmed that the police report was lodged and the case has been referred to the Sentul police headquarters.
Balasubramaniam’s widow A. Santamil Selvi had filed a suit for suffering intentional harm as a result of their exile in India following a statutory declaration made by the investigator over the murder.
Santamil, who is also acting for the estate of Balasubramaniam and their three children, filed the suit on July 13, 2017.
Besides Deepak, other defendants named in the suit included Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
