Man beats brother-in-law to death for waking him up

A MAN beat his brother-in-law to death with a broom and an umbrella for disturbing his sleep.

The 69-year-old aggressor, who had been staying at the brother-inlaw’s house in Ipoh for the past month, got upset after the victim woke him up at 2.15am on Wednesday and tried to throw him out of the house, reported Harian Metro.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Ali Tamby said the suspect then lodged a report claiming he and his grandchild were injured after being hit.

But after questionin­g, he confessed and brought the police to the house, where a body was found lying on the floor, said Asst Comm Mohd Ali.

He added that both men had been at loggerhead­s ever since the suspect moved into the house.

“We were chatting on Tuesday and he said that he felt there were signs he would die soon.

“I thought it was just idle chitchat,” said Ruzila Md Shariff, 54.

Her husband Sariff Abdul Karim, 73, who was the chairman of a cooperativ­e, died the next day.

Ruzila said she and Sariff recently had the same dream about a crowd of people coming to their house, which prompted their conversati­on about who would die first.

“To be honest, I felt small compared to the other contestant­s. But the situation prompted me to give my best,” she said.
