Chenderoh rep injured in accident near Ipoh
IPOH: Chenderoh assemblyman Datuk Zainun Mat Noor was injured in a three-vehicle collision while on his way to the Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur.
The Umno general assembly began at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur last night.
Eleven other people also sustained light injuries in the accident at 6.20am at KM329 of the NorthSouth Expressway near Tapah yesterday.
Zainun, 62, was travelling with 10 Umno members in two separate vehicles then.
Tapah OCPD Supt Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the accident occurred when a 33-yearold lorry driver transporting porcelain lost control of his vehicle and crashed in the middle of the expressway.
The SUV driven by the assemblyman heading towards the same direction then crashed into the lorry, before the other MPV hit the two vehicles.
It is learnt that the SUV driven by Zainun, who was behind the lorry, could not stop in time and crashed into the lorry before the other MPV ferrying Umno members slammed into them.
“The assemblyman and the others were brought to the Tapah Hospital for treatment,” he told reporters yesterday.
Eight women and four men were involved in the accident, said Supt Wan Azharuddin.
The assemblyman also received at the Tapah Hospital’s emergency observation ward, he added.

Supt Wan Azharuddin said that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
