KUALA LUMPUR: There is no stopping girls’ doubles shuttler Toh Ee Wei at the moment.

The Malacca lass is playing in a class of her own as she bagged two titles in the second-leg of the National Under-18 Championships at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara yesterday to put herself in good stead ahead of next month’s World Junior Championships in Canada.

She first stamped her name on the mixed doubles title with Chua Yue Chern as they defeated Loo Bing Kun-Yap Ling 22-20, 21-13 in the final.

And as that was not enough for the 18-yearold, she partnered Pearly Tan Koong Le to win the girls’ doubles title by blowing away Low Yeen Yuan-Valeree Siow Zi Xuan 21-15, 21-16.

It was another remarkable double achievement within a month for Ee Wei as she had also won two gold medals at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) two weeks ago when she bagged the mixed and girl’s doubles titles.

Ee Wei said she was shaping up well ahead of the world junior meet.

“The mixed doubles title is a surprise as Yue Chern and I are only a new pair,” said Ee Wei.

“But I think our tactics and the way we played were good and we communicated well which allowed us to win it. I’ll focus on the world junior meet next.”

Ee Wei and Pearly are tipped to win the girls’ doubles title.

In the boys’ doubles final, it was Ooi Jhy Dar-Yap Roy King who came out tops as they defeated Lau Yi Sheng-Lee Yi Bo 21-9, 21-15.

Roy King said it was a tough match as they faced an attacking pair but managed to keep their defence solid.

“My partner (Jhy Dar) and I played well. We were able to show today whatever we learned from our coach in training,” he said. Boys’ singles: Ng Tze Yong (Joh) bt Lee Shun Yang (Pen) 21-9, 21-17.

Boys’ doubles: Ooi Jhy Dar-Yap Roy King (Ked-Joh) bt Lau Yi Sheng-Lee Yi Bo (Joh) 21-9, 21-15.

Girls’ singles: Eoon Qi Xuan (Prk) bt Myisha Mohd Khairul (Joh) 21-8, 21-9.

Girls’ doubles: Pearly Tan Koong Le-Toh Ee Wei (Ked-Mel) bt Low Yeen Yuan-Valeree Siow Zi Xuan (Nse-Prk) 21-15, 21-16.

Mixed doubles: Chua Yue Chern-Toh Ee Wei (Kul-Mel) bt Loo Bing Kun-Yap Ling (Pen-Mel) 22-20, 21-13.
