- By RENA LIM rena@thestar.com.my

GEORGE TOWN: Schoolmates of the 15yearold student who fell to her death on Monday could not hold back their tears when they came to pay their last respects at her grandmother’s home in Jalan Perak.

They offered prayers and walked around the coffin for the last time before joining a crowd of over 100 people, including teachers from SMJK Heng Ee, who followed the hearse for a distance in the neighbourhood.

Family members and close friends also cried openly when the coffin was placed onto the hearse.

The cortege left the home at about 10am for the Batu Gantung crematorium where her remains were cremated. Also present was school principal Loh Soo Ping.

The girl had fallen to her death from her 11th floor unit in Jelutong on Monday prior to sitting for the PT3 examination.

She was supposed to have taken her examination that day, but when the alarm clock went off at 6am, her mother could not find her at home.

A cleaner later found her body near the swimming pool on the ground floor. It is learnt that the girl

had fallen in the wee hours.

She left behind four notes – one each for her parents, friends, classmates and teachers.

Her mother, who wished to be known as Lee, in her 40s, said the girl could have been suffering from

exam stress and pressure.
