-

THE newest Marvel superhero “Jewel” is inspired by Hong Kongbased singer-songwriter Tang TzeKei (pic), popularly known as G.E.M, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The announcement was made at Stan Lee’s Comic Universe in Shanghai where Tang appeared as the guest of honour.

Jewel closely resembles Tang, especially her eyes, as well as the two stick-like weapons she wields, which look like microphones.

The heroine’s name – Jewel – is also from Tang’s stage name – G.E.M.

However, Marvel had yet to reveal Jewel’s true power and whether this would be related to music.

> China Press reported that a man in Cheras was injured after running into a kite string tied with pieces of glass, dangling from a tree.

The man, who had to have 60 stitches to his chin and another 12 on his left palm, was passing by a mall in Jalan Loke Yew when the incident occurred.

According to a doctor, the wound would have been deadly if the string had cut 1cm deeper into his throat.

The kite owner could not be identified.

> The daily also reported that Malaysian singer Namewee would be returning to Hong Kong to perform at his 4896 World Tour on Nov 28.

While promoting his concert in Hong Kong, Namewee said he had chosen “4896” because it sounded like a colloquial Taiwanese proverb for “very powerful”.
