South African Keyser shines in adverse weather conditions
PETALING JAYA: South African Mathiam Keyser persevered amidst challenging weather conditions as he stayed in front after carding a oneover 72 at the PGM UMW Championship.
The 31yearold Keyser, who teed off his second round from the 10th tee, picked up where he left off as he made a couple of birdies in his first four holes yesterday.
However, his day unravelled after making three consecutive bogeys from holes four to six, as well as a double bogey on hole nine at the Impian Golf and Country Club.
Keyser returned to the clubhouse with a fourshot lead at the halfway stage of the tournament on a nineunder 133 total.
Thailand’s Donlaphatchai Niyomchon carded a 66, the lowest score of the day, to finish the day four shots off the lead. He traded an eagle and four birdies against a lone bogey.
Japan’s Naoki Sekito and Malaysia’s Sukree Othman are currently in tiedthird after carding 71 and 72 respectively.
