Princess Aura’s siblings also have lengthy ones, says mum
PETALING JAYA: Princess Aura Nurr Emily Amara Auliya Bidadari Nawal El Zendra binti Mohd Sufian, who is now famous for having the longest name in the country, is not the only one among her five siblings with a unique moniker.
Both her older sister and brother have six and eight words to their names respectively as well.
Their mother, Nurul Huda Ariffin, 32, who goes by the Facebook moniker Puteri Tujuh, said her third daughter, who is three years old, was named Princess Amanda Auliya Sofea Nurr Jelita.
Her fourth child, a boy aged two, was named Prince Muhammad Ahmad Ashrafi Auliya Alfarezel Rasya Sidra, she said in a phone interview from Sungai Petani, Kedah.
“The names of the three children are inspired by the names of roads in Indonesia,” said their father, businessman Mohd Sufian Salleh.
He said this was because they often travelled to Indonesia in the past few years for work, adding that his wife had sought advice from the ustaz there before naming their children.
However, the couple’s two oldest children have shorter names – Muhammad Rayyan Rinzly, 10, and Nur Raynia Isabella, eight.
On Thursday, National Regis tration Department directorgeneral Datuk Mohammad Razin Abdullah revealed that their youngest daughter’s name was the longest in Malaysia, which sparked off comments on social media.
Princess Aura erased the previous record held by Nur Fathaniah Tariyah Karimah Farwizah Zahabiyah Syahirah binti Airol Anizam in 2004. The name is made up of 63 characters and 12 words excluding “binti” which means daughter of.
Asked what she called her youngest daughter at home, Nurul Huda said: “We call her Princess Aura Bidadari at home.”
“I am not worried that my children will be treated differently (because of their names) as I believe in their extraordinary characteristics,” said the selfproclaimed spiritual healer.
When contacted, Princess Aura’s aunt Shafinar Ariffin said she was disturbed by the mean comments on Facebook, adding that her niece was still young and that people should not post negative remarks about her name.
She said while she did not agree with her sister giving long names to the couple’s children, she supported the decision.
“I’ve only been calling her Princess Aura since she was born,” she said.
Shafinar admitted that sometimes, she did not know which part of the children’s name to call out.
“I am blur at times,” she said.
