Water tankers mobilised to provide relief water supply
PETALING JAYA: A total of eight Local Service Centres are set up and water tankers will be mobilised to provide relief water supply to those affected by the water cut, which begins today in four Selangor districts.
Four are set up in the Petaling district – in Taman Rekreasi Wawasan, Persiaran Wawasan, Puchong; Pusat Perdagangan Seri Kembangan, Jalan PSK 9, Seri Kembangan and Rumah Pam Taman Equine, Persiaran Pinggiran Putra, Seri Kembangan. The last one is in USJ 4/5, USJ 4, Subang Jaya.
In the Hulu Langat district, it is stationed at Berhampiran Masjid Al-Hasanah, Persiaran Usahawan, Sek 9, Bandar Baru Bangi and the centre in Kuala Langat is at Jalan Palas 10, Tmn Dato’ Hormat, Telok Panglima Garang. In Sepang there are two: Masjid Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong and Putrajaya Sentral, Presint 7, Putrajaya.
In a press statement, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, a member of Air Selangor Group, said it is all set for the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant shutdown to carry out scheduled equipment replacement works which will begin at 9am today. The work is expected to take up to 12 hours.
Upon completion of the equipment replacement and resumption of plant operations, the process of filling up the reservoirs as well as raising pressure and flow in the distribution system will begin for the gradual water supply recovery.
“The supply recovery duration in the affected areas will vary depending on the geographical location and altitude of customers’ premises.
“Air Selangor will take every effort to speed up the replacement works and supply recovery. A total of eight Local Service Centres will be set-up and water tankers will be mobilised to provide relief water supply to affected customers,” said Syabas customer relations and communications head Abdul Raof Ahmad.
He said a majority of places can expect the water supply to be restored between 30 and 48 hours.
