Jazeman and Co all pumped up for WEC Round 4

-

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s dynamic trio of Jazeman Jaafar, Nabil Jeffri and Weiron Tan – still in upbeat mood after a glorious first podium victory in Silverstone, United Kingdom, in August – head to Japan for Round 4 of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) determined to excel at the 6 Hours of Fuji at the Fuji Speedway this weekend.

The first ever all-Malaysian line-up at the prestigious championship have expressed satisfaction in their performance at the WEC so far especially with their second placing for LMP2 class in Silverstone.

“Looking forward to bringing our strong momentum forward. After a strong result from Silverstone, I believe we can have another strong result,” said Jazeman, who was engaged in a close battle for first place with teammates at Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota at the closing end of the six-hour race in Silverstone.

But luck was not on the Malaysian side as the trio had to be contented with second place for the LMP2 class, finishing less than three seconds behind the partnership of Ho Pin Tung, Gabriel Aubry and Stephane Richelmi as both cars completed 185 laps.

“I am really looking forward to Fuji. Hopefully, we will build up from where we finished in Silverstone.

“We need to keep focus and be positive for the upcoming weekend in Fuji. Hoping for another podium there,” said Nabil when asked of his expectations for the Fuji race.

Like his teammates, Weiron is highly motivated to excel in Fuji and aims to make full use of his knowledge competing on the track and the weather in Japan.

“The upcoming round in Fuji will be very exciting. There was a downpour the past two years, let’s hope for some sunshine this year.

“I’ve raced in Fuji back in the 2016 Asian Le Mans, so I’m familiar with the circuit, and coming from a strong podium finish at Silverstone, I can say we are more motivated than ever to work hard and aim to finish on the top step of the podium this time,” said Weiron.
