Holding ceramah for small crowd works for me, says Isa

-

PORT DICKSON: The strategy of holding ceramah for a crowd of below 50 people is the most effective way to get their support, says Tan Sri Isa Samad.

The former Negri Sembilan mentri besar, who is contesting as an independent, said his message would eventually reach more people.

“They will go back and share the session with their family, relatives, neighbours and friends, who are voters here.

“What is the point of having a huge ceramah when half of the crowd are not registered voters?” he said when met after visiting the early polling centre at the district police station here.

The seven-term assemblyman and twoterm parliamentarian said he used the same method when he was in Barisan Nasional and it worked well.

Asked on Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad attending a ceramah in support of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Monday night, Isa said he did not follow it.

“But I was told there was nothing much in the speech,” he said.

On speculation that he was being approached by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Isa said it was news to him.

He was also non-committal when asked if he would rejoin Umno.

“Let me win first. Trust me, they will all come if I create an upset,” he said, adding that the long campaigning hours had not affected him much but admitted that he felt somewhat sakit hati (dejected).
