Don’t service trains during peak hours at KLIA

- WILLIAM DENNIS Subang Jaya

MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) should carry out the maintenance of its trains during offpeak hours to cause less inconvenience to travellers at the main terminal, KL International Airport (KLIA).

Prior to my flight to Manila on Oct 7 at around noon, travellers were kept waiting at the boarding platform to be ferried to the satellite building as only one train was operating.

The cars were not at the platform on the right and there was a strap across the doors stating ‘Maintenance in progress’.

On the opposite side where the train was operating, even Door 4 had a strap across with a ‘Maintenance in Progress’ sign

On my return on Oct 12 at around 11am, only one train was operating.

As a frequent traveller, I find Doors 5 and 6 into the departure level always shut with a strap across each. On the arrival level, it is the same at Doors 5 and 6.

It is difficult to comprehend why KLIA is causing inconvenience to users. What happens if there is an emergency, like a fire?

There will be limited exits for people to escape. We cannot take for granted that everything will be fine all the time.

I have travelled from Auckland in New Zealand to Sao Paulo in Brazil but have never came across any exit or entrance at any of the airports shut.

On another note, uncollected trolleys at pick-up point 6 make it difficult for people to move around.

An unattended multi-purpose vehicle was also parked on the bay for the disabled.
